NBCs’ hit reality show, The Voice, premiered on September 10, and since then has been one of the highest rated shows on television. The show has been praised for creating the new “gold standard” for integrating television and social media. “The key is creating connections between artists and fans,” says Peter Hammersly, the senior content director for NBC.com, and they have succeeded.

One of the biggest ways that The Voice excites viewers through social media is with its correspondent, Christina Milian. Her job is to interact with fans on Facebook, Twitter, NBC Live and NBC.com. On and off the show she engages viewers who interact through the social media outlets of The Voice and when finalists are chosen, the finalists are trained to leverage blogs, Facebook and Twitter and are given cameras and a Samsung Galaxy tablet to help further engage the audience. The show has developed an interactive Facebook app to keep fans excited. On the app you can see who your friends are voting for, ask for advice on who to choose, and you can also vote online for your favorite contestant. The Voice also embraces social media through NBCs’ official “The Voice” website, which includes a social tab which instantly connects fans to The Voices’ Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, Google+ and Youtube pages, and fan forums.

The rivalry between the teams is very popular on the show. Once the teams are chosen, viewers pick their favorite teams and talk about them on social media websites by citing them as TeamAdam, TeamBlake, TeamCeeLo or TeamChristina. Check out all the buzz around the teams and contestants at The Voice social dashboard. Shown in the chart below, there seems to be a very clear leader when it comes to fan favorites. Out of 31,460 team mentions, Team Adam is the most popular with 51.52% mentions. Coming in second is Blake Shelton with 23.23% of the mentions. Team Christina is the next popular with 18.18% of mentions and lastly CeeLo Green had only 7.07% of mentions about Team CeeLo on social media websites. It seems that Team Adam is currently fans favorite.

The viewers have also chosen their favorite celebrity coach. Over the past three days there have been 43,820 total mentions of the coaches on social media websites, with 47.96% of those mentions being about Adam Levine. Out of those mentions 97% were on Twitter alone. Next, Blake Shelton claimed 26.53% of the mentions with Christina Aguilera receiving 18.37% of the total mentions. And CeeLo Green had 7.14% total mentions. As of right now, I think its pretty clear that Adam Levine is viewers’ favorite coach and team.

Whose team are you rooting for?
